Equipped For Mission

Our formation program lived up to its name: our classes did not just train the mind to be ready for mission abroad, but also the heart! Scripture classes permitted me to have not just a more connected knowledge of scripture, but a fleshed-out context of it, equipping me to make greater sense of the bible for others. Mission theology classes gave me an idea of God that could tolerate ambiguity, a must when not only working with people from different cultures and classes but also when allowing myself to be truly "evangelized by the poor". When being taught spiritual practices, I was given a veritable toolbox of prayer and meditation practices which will allow me to maintain the spiritual aspect of mission life despite great changes to routine in our personal life.

While I'm sure many surprises (both pleasant and frustrating) await us in the field, I definitely feel more equipped to handle them now than I did three months ago!
